COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - South Carolina’s Manufacturing Madness competition has reached its final four, with voters across the state — and around the world — casting hundreds of thousands of ballots to determine the best product made in the Palmetto State.
The bracket-style contest, organized by the South Carolina Manufacturers and Commerce organization, began with 121 nominated products. It was then narrowed down to 16, then eight, and now the four finalists remain. These products represent industries including automotive, aerospace, and healthcare.
Sarah Hazard, president and CEO of South Carolina Manufacturers and Commerce, said the event was created to highlight the wide range of products made by South Carolina manufacturers.
“South Carolina makes so many cool products,” Hazard said. “Manufacturers all across the state and all 46 counties are making things every day that are used not only right here in South Carolina, but all over the world.”
Hazard emphasized that the competition shines a light not only on the products but also on the people behind them.
“It’s just an exciting way to showcase the products that are made here and the people who are making them,” she said.
She also noted the significant role manufacturing plays in the state’s economy.
“South Carolina is a manufacturing powerhouse employing hundreds of thousands of people here, generating just a tremendous amount of economic activity in this state,” Hazard said. “We really are a leader, and we have a lot to be proud of.”
Voting is open through March 19. You can cast your vote by clicking/tapping here. The winner will be announced at the State House on March 24.
